Stone Design and Mosaics
Using a method he developed himself in the early 1990's, Hay designed and built both standing and functional mosaic pieces in granite and marble until the early 2010's. Their variety attests to his versatility as a designer. Here Hay explored both his maximalist love for geometric complexity as well as his lifelong interest in abstracted figuration. See as well his Butterfly and Acrobat designs beautifully etched into stone designs. Included also are two mosaic pieces, Puma and Mark Twain, projects he designed and oversaw completed by inmates at Sierra Conservation Center for public elementary schools in Calaveras County, California.
